How the BusinessBooster Website Health Check works
The checker is deterministic: the same website gives the same result, every score is arithmetic on observed findings, and nothing in the free report is written by AI. This page lists the actual numbers it uses.
1. What is collected
- The page you enter (following up to 5 redirects), read as the HTML the server sends — up to 3.0 MB.
- Up to 7 more pages, chosen in priority order: services, pricing, about, contact, booking, shop, quote — then other menu pages. Pages that robots.txt asks crawlers to avoid are skipped.
- robots.txt, the XML sitemap (including up to 3 child sitemaps), a test request for a page that does not exist, and the http:// and www/non-www versions of the address.
- Up to 30 images, scripts and stylesheets, for size, type and caching; up to 3 stylesheets read for responsive rules; up to 25 internal links checked for errors.
- Google PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse, mobile) for lab speed, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, SEO and best-practice audits, plus real-visitor Chrome data when Google has it.
- The domain’s registration date from the registry’s public RDAP record, where the registry publishes one.
Each request times out after 8 seconds and the whole scan after 45. Anything not finished is reported as not tested. Requests identify themselves as BusinessBoosterHealthCheck. Private and internal network addresses are refused.
2. How the score is calculated
Each check earns a share of its weight: 1 for a pass, partial credit where a measurement falls between “good” and “poor”, 0 for a failure. A check that could not run is excluded rather than scored as zero.
category score = Σ(check weight × share earned) ÷ Σ(check weight) × 100
overall score = Σ(category weight × category score) ÷ Σ(category weight)
| Category | Weight | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | 15% | 12 |
| SEO | 17% | 19 |
| Mobile | 13% | 7 |
| Accessibility | 10% | 13 |
| Security & Trust | 12% | 12 |
| Content | 10% | 11 |
| Conversion | 15% | 10 |
| Technical Health | 8% | 11 |
Status levels
- Excellent: 90–100
- Good: 75–89
- Needs Attention: 55–74
- Poor: 35–54
- Critical: 0–34
Key thresholds
- Server response: good under 600 ms, poor over 1500 ms.
- Homepage weight: good under 1.5 MB, poor over 3.5 MB. Images over 400 KB are flagged.
- Core Web Vitals (Google’s boundaries): LCP 2.5–4 s, CLS 0.1–0.25, TBT 200–600 ms.
- Lighthouse scores: 90+ passes; under 50 fails.
- Title 25–60 characters; meta description 70–160.
- Homepage text: 300+ words is good; inner pages under 120 are “thin”. Under 60 words with several scripts is treated as JavaScript-rendered, and content checks are not scored.
3. Website replacement value
The estimated cost to rebuild a site with the detected characteristics, using BusinessBooster’s rate card (ex VAT). It is not what the site would sell for, and not a valuation of the business.
- Base website (design system, build, launch): €900
- Pages 2–10: €140 each
- Pages 11–30: €70 each
- Pages 31–150: €30 each
- Articles and posts: €15 each (up to 300)
- Contact / enquiry form: €150
- Quote request form: €200
- Online booking: €700
- Online payments: €600
- E-commerce shop: €2,500
- Content management system: €400
- Blog / news section: €300
- Image gallery / portfolio: €200
- Embedded map: €60
- Embedded video: €100
- Site search: €350
- Customer login / membership: €1,500
- Calculators / interactive tools: €600
- Multilingual content: €800
- Newsletter sign-up: €120
- Live chat: €100
- Third-party integrations: €90 each (up to 8)
- Technical SEO setup: up to €350, in proportion to how much is in place
- Content preparation: €60 per 1,000 words (capped at €2,500)
- Design complexity multiplier: simple ×1, standard ×1.2, advanced ×1.45
The range runs from 80% to 130% of the total. Confidence is High when the page count comes from a sitemap and several pages were analysed, Low when the content is JavaScript-rendered or only one page could be read.
4. Domain value
Starts from a base for the extension (for example .com €450, .ie €300), then multiplies by factors for length, whether the name is made of real words, commercial and location keywords, hyphens, digits, special characters and registration age. The range is 60%–170% of the result. Below €100 we say the name is worth about its registration cost rather than quote a number.
It does not use comparable sales, backlinks or search volume, because there is no reliable free source for them — so confidence is at most Medium, and the report lists what was not measured. Try it on any name with the domain value checker.
5. Where AI is — and isn’t — used
The free report uses no AI. The paid recommendations send the report’s structured findings (not your website) to a language model to prioritise and explain them. Every recommendation must cite the findings it is based on; any that does not is labelled as an inference.
6. Privacy and retention
Running a check needs no name or email. Reports are stored under a random private link, are never listed or indexed, and are deleted after 30 days (365 days if you buy recommendations, so you can return to them). A repeat check of the same address within 6 hours reuses the earlier scan.
